4 Principles of Rad-Hard Power Management

1. High Efficiency and Stable Power Supply Across a Wide Range of Load Currents: Ensures maximum power conversion efficiency, reducing energy loss and heat generation.

2. Innate Redundancy: Built-in redundancy enhances reliability and resilience, critical for space applications.

3. Small Form Factor: 10X reduction in inductor size realizes a compact design and optimizes limited space payload areas making it ideal for space missions.

4. High Step-Down Ratio: Capable of converting high input voltages to low output voltages efficiently.

ZES’ DC/DC intellectual property (IP ) is unique and advantageous over other IPs

ZES’s PoL based on proprietary technology (patent pending) offers an unprecedented means to supply power to COTS devices (FPGA, MCU, ASIC).

Specifically, ZES’s PoL embodies a unique control mode, hence featuring optimized power efficiency over a wide loading range, zero current switching, ultra-fast transient response, and over current protection.

ZES’ PoL is a synchronous DC/DC buck regulator integrated circuit. The control system embodies both a voltage-mode hysteretic control (VMHC) and current-mode hysteretic control (CMHC). The first advantage of this design is that the buck converter can operate in both DCM and CCM and thus provide excellent efficiency at both light and heavy loads. The second advantage is that unlike traditional current-mode PWM controller, the linear regulation in our design only works when the buck converter enters heavy load.
